I posted a Diary a few days back about MSNBC's refusal to run an anti-gun ad. They have relented and decided to air it. Thanks for your emails (if anybody sent them). Here Is what I wrote a few days back:
"
Mayors Againss Illegal Guns, a group created by Mike Bloomberg, is attempting to air the anti-gun ad on MSNBC. Sadly MSNBC found the ad to be too "controversial." The ad simply show the three presidential candidates making commitments to close "gun-show loopholes" and then various mayors calling for them to be closed.
features each of the three leading presidential candidates pledging to make it harder to buy guns at gun shows, and images of three mayors urging viewers to call Congress and ask that a bill closing the "gun-show loophole" be passed. Fox and CNN are airing the ad, yet MSNBC (of all stations) is refusing.
And email from an MSNBC exec reads, "just heard back from legal about your script...unfortunately, we can not accept as it is a controversial issue ad," said the email from the account executive."
Alegre has posted a very well written diary titled: ACTION: Seventy-seven Cents. Which states a history of Women's Issues, speaks to recent legislation supporting women, and then ask for donations for Hillary Clinton. I don't want to bash Alegre or Sen. Clinton. I just want to acknowledge the Sen. Clinton is reaching out to her most solid base - white women, and there may be a double standard here. Sen. Obama's base (whose total amount of votes are not to far removed from that of White Women this cycle) is African Americans. Often the Media says Women break heavily for women. However, they seem to often forget Black Women are Women, and on a number of occasions I've noticed them put up the White Women exist polls and ask "Why does Obama do poorly with Women?" I'm not suggesting the troubles of Black Folks and Women are equal - or even to be compared. Only that this has become a race of identity politics, where it is pretty easy to predict where Identities break down. Anyway, On Women Alegre Writes,

In an interview with Will Bunch over at Philly.com Sen. Obama took the his hardest stance yet against the War Crimes of the Bush Administrations - Here is his full comment. Obama has stated that waterboarding is a form of torture, so obviously torture falls under these crimes.
David Brock's Progressive Media U.S.A. is running an ad on CNN, MSNBC, and local D.C. Channels to target astro-turf. This is what Democrats ought to be doing more of.
Butch Otter and his family woke up to an interesting figure in their grass yesterday. A giant Phallus burned into the grass. Well actually they don't live in the house, which was just recently donated by a local Potato magnate. The figure is 60 feet tall, and was made (likely) with Roundup. As Mark Reed, manager of a local gardening center put it, "It pretty much kills anything, especially when the heat is on it," Reed said. "When it's 100 degrees, it would take it down pretty quick." If the perpetrator used a backpack sprayer, Reed said, the job would be pretty easy.
This is the first Phallus symbol to strike a Gov's mansion yard. However, sources tell me they have plagued school-house desk for decades. Some are blaming local youth. Authorities are concerned this could lead to a spread of Phallus-like symbols on other important lawns.
Attacking the motives of those who feel this discomfort about Senator Obama's response or nonresponse to Reverend Wright's comments is not just unfair and wrong.... It misses the point (he continues to talk about Reagan Democrats)
Jimmy Carter, who I consider our last great President, but I know other here are not such huge fans. Carter never got along with the Clintons too well. Anyway he said in Nigeria yesterday:
"We are very interested in the primaries. Don't forget that Obama won in my state of Georgia. My town which is home to 625 people is for Obama, my children and their spouses are pro- Obama.
My grandchildren are also pro- Obama. As a Super Delegate, I would not disclose who I am rooting for but I leave you to make that guess.
